Sara was honoured to have been awarded the University of Manchester Outstanding Alumni Award on the 18th July 2018. Having studied Master of Pharmacy at the university, graduating in 2002, Sara eventually left pharmacy to study human rights and went on to co-found Inspire, a women’s rights and counter-extremism organisation. In January 2018, Sara was appointed to lead the new Commission for Countering Extremism as the Government’s first Counter-extremism Czar.
As detailed by the university of Manchester, outstanding Alumni Awards are presented to alumni who have achieved distinction in their profession, through exemplary service to the University or the wider community or outstanding service of a personal or humanitarian nature.
